General Information

San Juan de los Remedios, better known as Remedios, is a municipality and city located northeast of the central province of Villa Clara. Founded in 1513 by the Spanish Vasco Porcallo de Figueroa in the footsteps of Diego Velázquez, it is known as the Eighth Villa, and it had 3 population settlements before the attacks of corsairs and pirates. The greatest treasures that the town awaits are found in its historic center, declared a National Monument in 1979, with its Plaza formerly Isabel II and today called José Martí Park, where works of great heritage value are located, such as the Iglesia Parroquial Mayor San Juan Bautista declared a National Monument since 1949, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Good Trip and the Statue of Libertys.
