Las Terrazas Complex is a rural experience of sustainable development located at the Biosphere Reserve Sierra del Rosario, in Artemisa Province. It is the second stage of a project that began in 1968. Its main goal was to reforest an area of 5000 hectares, to improve the living conditions of the scattered population and to establish ways of communication with the national net of highways.In 1971, the picturesque Las Terrazas community rises, a protagonist of what has happened in the area up to nowadays. It has been crucial in every action towards the self-sustainable development of the territory and the improvement of the material and spiritual quality of life of its inhabitants. Since 1994, taking into consideration its attractiveness, this area hasbecome a tourist destination oriented to nature and culture.
