Matanzas is the neoclassical city par excellence of Cuba. The relationship between its remarkable monuments and its great natural scenery is unique and relevant. It is known as "Sleeping Beauty", "The Cuban Venice" for its bridges or the "Athens of Cuba", land of poets, is also called "The city of bridges", because it has more than twenty of these , which is due to the 3 rivers that cross it through almost all of its territory.
